Have you entered the club open 25 mile time trial on Sunday 10th May yet? Remember the closing date is 28th April. If you are not riding then give Doug a phone call and volunteer to help with marshalling duties, his number is 01529 461018.

Whilst we are on the subject of marshals the evening events start on the 22nd April and help will be required to successfully organise them. Remember to claim any awards in the evening events you have to help in a least two races.

One other event the club will need helpers is on the 31st may at Kenardington. This is the day the club is helping to organise S.E.R.R.L. road race. Club members Kim and Preston Anderson organise all the years racing for the S.E.R.R.L. but every club in the league have to help out in an event and our turn is on the 31st May. Please pass your name to Paul Buckley as a marshal or driver of a car. If you are driving your car in the event then let Preston know your car details for insurance purposes

Have you had your water bill in recently? Here is a tip from John Booty. Southern Water charge £22.00 for Surface Water Drainage. If the water from your roof or pathway runs onto your garden and not into the main drainage system, you do not have to pay the £22-00. Just contact the water company and ask for a rebate regarding this charge and they will check your property and decide if you are eligible a refund.

I expect most of you are booking your holidays and no doubt some of them will be in Europe. If so have you got a European Health Insurance Card. This card replaced the old E111 form we used to have. If so then check the expiry date, they only last 5 years and the first ones that were issued have now expired. You can renew them via the internet at ehic.org.uk ( it takes about seven days for your new card to arrive ).

After a lot of discussion on what to have at the Prize Presentation and finally deciding on a two course meal + coffee it does appear the club made the right choice. We must thank our Social Sec, Nick Allen for making the decision to have this menu. 47 members and friends enjoyed their meal before the Prizes were presented by Guest of Honour Ann Staff. Many thanks to everybody who donated prizes for the raffle and the ladies who sold £75.00 of tickets. This meant the club made a small profit on the function. The club would like to thank Ann and Kim Staff for coming along to the dinner and presenting the prizes which was very brave of them so soon after the sad loss of Charlie Ann would like to thank everybody who made donations to the two charities in memory of Charlie. £327.50 went to Kent Association for the blind and £338.50 to Macmillan Nurses. A big thank you to every one concerned.

Have you paid your club subscription yet? If not then please pay them as soon as possible. Remember the club joins various associations to enable you to compete in many competitions. Until you have paid your subscriptions you are not eligible to any prizes.

With the time trial season now in full swing, don’t forget to let your T.T. Sec know all your times so that the club will be able to allocate the various cups to the appropriate winners at the end of the season. Richard Masters has already recorded some fast times without the aid of tri-bars. ( He is waiting for a new bike to arrive ). The times set by Richard are as follows, 10 miles, 24-47s & 25 miles 1h 2m 0s. No doubt these times will be improved once the new machine arrives.
